One of the fronts of Orchestra Brasil – a project by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) – is to provide opportunities for suppliers in the furniture industry to participate in sector events, connecting companies and importers from target countries for the segment. Following this perspective, Orchestra Brasil conducted international business rounds at Fimma Brasil 2023, an important global fair for the furniture chain, which took place from August 28 to 31 in Bento Gonçalves (RS).
Over four days of the event, 19 importers from eight countries negotiated directly with 51 Brazilian suppliers in the furniture industry, totaling around 500 meetings. Companies from segments such as machinery, accessories, components, tools, raw materials, among others, finalized US$ 750,000 in transactions during the event. For the next 12 months, the projection reaches around US$ 5 million.
Ana Cristina Schneider, manager of Orchestra Brasil, comments that the action was considered extremely satisfactory by the participants. “These rounds had a significant challenge because we had companies dealing with over 100 types of products, but it was possible to generate great opportunities in different categories. We are very aware of the importance of Orchestra Brasil because a single company would take much longer to identify and bring buyers,” she explains. “In addition to the operational team, we had the active participation of a committee composed of companies from various segments and an advisory board to select qualified buyers from strategic countries for the sector. It was certainly a very good screening, as there were business deals generated during the meetings,” she adds.
Regarding the origin of the importers, the business rounds of Orchestra Brasil at Fimma had the participation of buyers from Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina (the latter invited by Movergs). “It is interesting to note that the Mexican market is emerging among countries. In addition to having a strong and growing furniture industry that demands solutions such as machinery, inputs, components, among others, Mexico has now imposed tariffs on Chinese products. This certainly expands opportunities for Brazilian suppliers,” Ana emphasizes.
For Clarissa Franco, international business analyst at ApexBrasil and manager of Orchestra Brasil, exportation is a tool for regional development. “It promotes economic growth and social transformation where companies are located. In this context, the Buyer Project conducted by Orchestra Brasil at Fimma aims to develop regional companies so that they can increasingly conquer international markets and increase their competitiveness both nationally and internationally,” she points out.
