Credit line will enable the purchase of furniture by the participants of My House, My Life program   The Caixa Economica Federal bank launched on Monday, March 23, the Cred Móveis Caixa credit line, for the purchase of furniture and white goods by the participants in the My House, My Life Program (MCMV). This is an old claim of the furniture sector, put forward by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis) during Movelsul Brasil 2010. At the time, the first pre-project was delivered to representatives of the bank to include furniture in their housing funding programs. In 2012, the claim gained momentum during the second edition of the Consumer’s House in the New Brazil project, when a full-size apartment was built within Movelsul Brasil 2012 exhibition floor to portray the lifestyle of the new Brazilian middle class family. Furnished with products made by companies exhibiting at the fair, the aim of the project was to show that the furniture industry has been getting ready to meet this new demand. This week, Sindmóveis sent the President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff, a video about the project and a letter reinforcing the desire of the furniture sector to be included in credit lines. For the President of Sindmóveis, Cátia Scarton, this is another positive result for the sector, which, combined with the reduction on the taxes on manufactured products by the end of June, will boost the Brazilian industrial production - mainly of furniture, one of the sectors selected by the Federal Government to be part of the Brasil Maior Program. With R$ 2 billion available, contracts can be signed of May 4. The program provides special terms and interest, ranging from 1% to 2% per month, payable within 48 months. Interest rates are set according to the family income of those concerned, in compliance with the MCMV regulations. "The reduction is quite significant, since in general the interest for the financing of furniture is approximately 6%," said Cátia.
